As per ISO 9000:2015 Definition of Quality Assurance

and Quality Control is as mentioned below;

Quality Assurance:

Quality Assurance



A part of Quality Management which

focuses on providing confidence that Quality Requirements

will be fulfilled.

Quality Control:

Quality Control

A part of Quality Management which focuses on fulfilling Quality Requirements.


Focus of QA & QC


Quality Assurance

To prevent occurrence of Defects in the Process. (i.e.

before the product is being manufactured). It is

a Proactive part of Quality Management. It focuses

on Process.


Quality Control


To identify and correct the defects in the product (i.e.

after the product is manufactured).

It is a Re-active part of Quality Management. It focuses

on Product.


Goal of QA & QC


Quality Assurance


To improve development and test processes so that

defect occurrence can be prevented during

development.

Quality Control


To identify and correct the defects in the product after

development and before release.

Responsibility of QA & QC


Quality Assurance


Each and every person involved in product

development is Responsible. CFT or MDT Approach

(i.e. Production, Maintenance, Quality, Engineering

etc..)

Quality Control


Specific Team responsible for testing and inspection of

the Products. (i.e. Dimension Inspection Team, NDT

Team, Metallurgical Inspection Team etc..)

How QA & QC


Quality Assurance


Establishing Good Quality Management System.

Assessing its adequacy by periodic audits.


Quality Control


Detecting / Finding defective Products.

Correcting / Eliminating source of Defect.

Validation / Testing is an example of Quality Control
